Strengthening Our Christian Walk

 Introduction

The past year 2023 has been a testament to God's unending love and mercy. In moments of joy and in times of challenge, His presence has been a constant source of strength and comfort. It's important to look back and acknowledge the many ways, both big and small that God has been at work in our lives.

I'm reminded of this saying that goes, without the past there can not be present and without the present there can not be future.

As we turn our sights to 2024, it's a time of hopeful anticipation. While we don't know what the future holds, we can be assured that God's goodness will continue to be a guiding force in our lives.

Just like you this year, i'm looking into developing and strengthening my walk of faith and making my space or small world a better place for everyone. There's nothing that feels so good like when people remember you and smile because of the positive impact or joy you've brought into their lives.

There are so many things that we can do to strengthen our intimacy with Christ and this serves as a reminder to me to really make sure I mean it this time to dig into the Word and truth daily. Just like Nuno our On-Air Host who encourages us to be intentional in our thoughts and actions.

Only by spending quality time with someone can you talk with them, learn from them, share your heart and grow close in intimacy. Here are some tips to help you and I (us) walk closer with God to build and renew quality relationship.

  • Consistent prayer life (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
  • Set aside time for devotion (Psalms119:105)
  • Attend fellowships (Hebrews 10:25)
  • Participate in fasting (Matthew 6:16-18)
  • Confession of our sins and seeking forgiveness (1 John 1:9)
  • Serving others with humility (Galatians 5:13)
  • Cultivating a heart of gratitude (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
  • Stay connected to the vine (John 15:4-5)
  • Guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:8)
  • Share your faith (Matthew 28:19-20)
Conclusion

We are not saved by works. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Nothing you can ever do in this world will buy you salvation. It is your faith and belief in Christ alone. Accepting His free gift and allowing Him to reside in your heart.

I pray that you are able to incorporate these things into your daily life and to develop rich, meaningful intimacy with Christ unlike anything you have ever experienced. Just know, He knows your heart and He will meet you right where you are.

The Essence of Christmas: Jesus' Birth and Mary's Devotion

Introduction

Christmas is a special celebration for Christians, honoring the birth of Jesus Christ. People all around the world also celebrate it by coming together with family, giving gifts, visiting friends, and enjoying the holiday in their own ways.

The term "Christmas" originates from the "Mass of Christ," representing a religious service like communion or Eucharist. "Christmas" is the shortened version of "Christ-Mass," derived from this significant term.

As we celebrate Christmas let us remember that Jesus was born and lived on earth for a little more than three decades to fulfill the will of God. Here are some of the reasons Jesus was born?

  • To show us Love and Hope: We are deeply loved by God
  • To Offer us a Fresh Start: A chance to start a new and meaningful relationship with God
  • To be like us: He was born as a Human to show that God understands what it is to live our lives.
  • To bring people together: He united people across different backgrounds and beliefs. His teaching emphasized love, compassion, and understanding.
  • To show forgiveness and redemption: His birth was the beginning of a journey that showed us the incredible power of forgiveness and redemption.
From Passages that weave together like a tapestry, we discover that God had reasons for choosing the times, places, and people involved in His redemption plan, and here are a few lessons we learned from Mary.

'I am the Lord's servant,' Mary answered. 'May your word to me be fulfilled.' Luke 1:38

  • Faith and Trust: Mary took God at his word, and despite uncertainty, she accepted the angel Gabriel's message with grace. Her willingness to embrace God's plan showcases the strength found in trusting and obeying God's word.
  • Courage in Tough Times: Mary was ready to surrender her life to the Lord, even if it meant that she might face potential societal backlash due to her unexpected pregnancy
Conclusion

Mary gives us an example of total devotion to the Lord in her answer to the angel Gabriel. May we have the wisdom and grace to answer God's call, whatever it is the way Mary did.
This is what it takes to celebrate Christmas; to believe what is completely unbelievable to many people, to accept God's will for our lives, and to place ourselves in God's service, trusting that our lives are in the hands of God.

Finding Meaning in the Midst of Tragedy

Introduction

In the face of tragedy, our faith can be tested, and our hearts can be left heavy with sorrow. However, it is during these dark moments that we have the opportunity to learn profound lessons about God and our relationships with one another. Let's explore how tragedy can be a crucible for spiritual growth and deeper connections.

1. Trusting God's Sovereignty

Tragedy often leads us to question God's plan. But in the midst of uncertainty, we can find solace in the belief that God is sovereign. Understanding that He works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28) can provide a foundation of hope even in the most trying times.

2. Discovering Empathy and Compassion

When we face tragedy, we not only need God's comfort but also the support of others. This is an opportunity for the Christian community to shine. Jesus calls us to bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2), and through tragedy, we can learn the profound impact of empathy and compassion.

3. Embracing the Fragility of Life

Tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life. James reminds us that life is but a vapor (James 4:14). This realization prompts us to cherish every moment and prioritize our relationship with God and our loved ones.

4. Growing in Perseverance and Faith

Through trials, our faith is refined like gold in a furnace (1 Peter 1:7). Tragedy can be the catalyst for a deeper, more resilient faith. It teaches us to persevere and trust God's promises even when circumstances seem bleak.

5. Finding Purpose in Pain

God has a unique way of using our pain and suffering for His greater purpose. Joseph, in the Old Testament, acknowledged that what was meant for evil, God intended for good (Genesis 50:20). Tragedy can lead to unexpected blessings and opportunities for God's glory to shine through.

Conclusion: A Glimpse of God's Redemptive Power

While tragedy is undeniably painful, it can also be a powerful teacher. Through the lens of faith, we can glean valuable insights about God's character and the depth of our human connections. In the midst of darkness, let us remember that God is the ultimate redeemer, and He can bring beauty from ashes.

May we find comfort, strength, and a deeper understanding of God's love as we navigate the complexities of life's tragedies.

The Last Step: Becoming Like Jesus

Introduction

The Bible talks about something called "glorification." It's the final part of being saved. It means we'll be changed to be more like Jesus and share in His Glory. The Bible has a lot of verses that help us understand this.

Getting Comfort from the Bible

  • In two stories, Matthew 9:24 and John 11:11, Jesus shows us something important. He said, 'Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.' Jesus used the expression "Asleep" affirming both that the "body" was dead, and implying that her spirit still lived, and that she would be raised up again.
  • After he had said this, he went on to tell them, 'Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.' The Bible often spoke of the justified as "sleeping" The meaning of sleeping then is that those who are justified do not cease to "exist;" but, though their bodies are dead, yet their spirits live, and therefore, they sleep in the hope of the resurrection. He wanted us to know that death isn't the end.

Learning from Jesus' Return

  • When Jesus came back to life, it showed us that we'll also come back to life someday. Since he is the first fruits, we will follow. His resurrection is the promise and guarantee of our future resurrection.

Our New Bodies

  • In describing the attributes of resurrected bodies, we can derive certain qualities from the appearance of Christ after his resurrection.
  • Death has no power over Jesus, so it will have no power over us in our new bodies and we will live forever, healthy, without being subject to death again.

More Verses to Think About

There are more verses that help us understand this.

  • Acts 7:60 (NIV) Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:6 (NIV) After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:14 (NIV) For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (NIV) Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed - in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:20 (NIV) But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:44 (NIV)  it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

Conclusion

The Bible tells us about glorification, which means becoming like Jesus in the end. It promises that, just like Jesus came back to life, we will too. We'll have new bodies that won't ever get sick or old. These verses remind us to look forward to this amazing future with joy and hope.

Finding Guidance and Peace: Including Jesus in Your Decisions

Introduction

Decisions can be tough, especially the big ones like relationships, money, and jobs. But here's something that can help: keeping Jesus in the picture. It might sound a bit unusual, but it can make a real difference in how you choose your path.

Making Choices the Jesus Way

Imagine you're trying to follow a map without knowing where you're going. Including Jesus in your decisions is like having a reliable guide. It's about wanting what Jesus wants for you. When you go down this road, you're more likely to end up where you're meant to be, even if the journey is bumpy.

Feeling Sure and Calm

Life is full of surprises, and not all decisions turn out the way we want. But when Jesus is part of the process, you can feel sure that no matter what happens, it's going to be okay. It's like having a safety net, knowing that God's got your back. This kind of confidence lets you enjoy each day without worrying too much about what might go wrong.

Staying Humble and Wise

Remember, nobody knows everything. Including Jesus in your choices is a way of admitting that. It's a bit like asking for advice from someone really smart. By doing this, you're showing humility, which means you're open to learning and growing. It's a way of saying, "I might not have all the answers, but I know someone who does."

The Big Picture

To wrap it up, inviting Jesus into your decision-making process is a pretty big deal. It's like having a trustworthy friend by your side who knows the best way forward. It helps you feel calm when things get tough and reminds you that you don't have to figure everything out on your own. With Jesus in the driver's seat, you're on a path toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Sanctification: A Path To Holiness

Introduction

The word sanctification reminds me of our family with the most treasured old design cupboard strategically placed in the living room. Inside it were special utensils only used during special occasions like birthday celebrations or when visitors were around to serve them the best meal and drinks. This practice did not only happen in our home but it was common in our neighborhood.

As I was thinking about today's article the scripture that caught my attention is from 2 Timothy 2:20-21, "In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some are for special purpose and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the master, and prepared to do any good work."

Understanding Sanctification in the Bible

When we encounter "sanctification" in the Bible, it refers to a profound and transformative journey that believers undertake. At its core, sanctification is the process by which God sets His people apart for His special purpose and calls them to a life of holiness.

Concept of Sanctification and its significance in the life of a believer

  • Being Set Apart for God's Purpose:
Sanctification can be traced back to the Old Testament, where God called His people to be holy, setting them apart from the world to fulfill His divine plan. Leviticus 20:7-8 emphasizes this idea, "Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy; for I am the LORD your God. Keep my statutes, and do them; I am the LORD who sanctifies you. "Here sanctification involves consecrating ourselves to God's will and living in obedience to His commands."
  • A Process of Transformation:
In the New Testament, sanctification takes a deeper meaning. While believers are already sanctified through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:10), the term is often used to describe the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in making us more like Christ. It is a journey of growth and maturation, as we strive to reflect the character of Jesus in our thoughts, words, and actions.

Paul beautifully captures this progressive aspect of sanctification in Romans 6:22, "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life." As we yield to God's transforming power, the fruit of sanctification becomes evident in our lives, culminating in eternal life with Him.

  • A Joint Effort with God:
Sanctification is not a solitary endeavor; rather, it involves cooperation between believers and God. Philippians 2:12-13 affirms this, "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." As we seek to grow in holiness, God's Spirit empowers us to overcome sin and live according to His purpose.

  • Tools for Growth:
God has provided essential tools to aid our sanctification. The Word of God, the Bible, acts as a guide, revealing His will and His promise to His people. Prayer serves as a means of communion with God, expressing our dependence on Him. Fellowship with other believers encourages and strengthens us on our journey. Acts of kindness and evangelism reflect our devotion to God and His kingdom.

Conclusion

In the Bible, sanctification embodies a transformative process where believers are set apart for God's special purpose and grow in holiness, becoming more like Jesus Christ. It is a joint effort, where His Spirit empowers us to walk in obedience and reflect His character in our lives. As we actively participate in this sanctification journey, we draw closer to God, preparing ourselves for the eternal life that awaits us with Him.

Unleashing your d'vine potential: The power of service and discovery

Introduction

This is my short story. My name is Vincent. I grew up in a church where my family deeply revered the Lord and faithfully supported His works. Our home became a hub for weekly home fellowships, where pastors and church members would gather to sing, pray, and share the Word of God. As children, we had the choice to either join in the fellowship or venture outside to play with other kids in the neighborhood.

Sunday was a sacred day for us, as attending church was a compulsory part of our lives. There was never an excuse to stay at home because we understood that it was during these services that we had the opportunity to practice new songs in Sunday school. We strived to be consistent in our attendance, knowing that our commitment was noted and rewarded.

Growing up in this environment, I was instilled with a sense of responsibility and service. I witnessed firsthand the importance of actively participating in the needs of our church community and the impact it had on the lives of others. As I dedicated myself to serve, my skills and abilities began to develop and grow.

It was through serving in various capacities that I discovered the power of using my talents to make a difference. Whether it was setting up rooms, arranging chairs, or preparing refreshments for guests at our home fellowships, I learned the value of selflessness and attention to detail. These acts of service not only blessed others but also became instrumental in shaping my character and equipping me with invaluable skills that would carry me through life.

Service opened doors to self-discovery. It allowed me to explore my passions and develop talents that I didn't know existed. Through engaging with others and being a part of the church community, I discovered my gift for leadership, communication, and organization. I began to realize that our unique design is intricately connected to our ability to serve and impact those around us.

As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded of the words of Jesus, who said, "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." These words hold a profound truth that echoes through time. True fulfillment and purpose are found not in seeking personal gain but in selflessly serving others.

Today, I encourage you to embrace the power of service and discovery in your own life. Look for opportunities to serve in your community, church, or even within your own family. Consider your unique talents, interests, and passions, and find ways to utilize them for the betterment of others. Engage in acts of kindness, lend a helping hand, or invest your time and energy in causes that align with your values.

Remember that service is not limited to grand gestures; even the smallest acts of kindness can have a significant impact. Each act of service is an opportunity for growth, both in developing your skills and in deepening your understanding of your purpose.

Unleashing your divine potential begins with a heart that is willing to serve. As you step out in faith and embrace the journey of service and discovery, you will not only impact the lives of others but also unlock the treasures within yourself. Let your service be a testament to the love and grace of God, and allow Him to guide you on a path of fulfillment, joy, and eternal significance.

Conclusion

So, dear reader, I invite you to embark on this transformative journey of service and discovery. As you serve others with love, compassion, and humility, watch as your divine potential unfolds and your life becomes a beacon of hope and inspiration to those around you.

Dear friend, thank you for reading our article. I invite you to join us in worship and prayers. See you at GlobalWorshipRadio.com, where we come together in faith. Let's connect and grow in our spiritual journey.
